Artist Statement
The environment is important to me and we can all play a role in saving it. My image is a reflection on the environmental issues facing our world today—global warming, acid rain, air pollution diminishing rain forests and out of balance ecosystems. Much like a balance scale, the woman is measuring the choices she can make—to reduce, reuse and recycle—in hopes of minimizing her carbon footprint and to make a positive personal impact on earth. The tree upon her head symbolizes the environmental issues that weigh heavily on all of our minds. We can make choices every day to improve our world, and one of those choices is to become engaged politically and to vote.
